Requirements
A successful trip means no injuries, no loss of equipment, and the clients had a
wonderful time. We reserve the right to cancel or delay a trip in the event we
believe it cannot be completed successfully. Further we reserve the right to not
take any client if we believe, maybe in error, that taking that client may result in
harm to that client, other clients, or the equipment.
We accept clients in good health who are at least 8 years old and less than 80.
We take older adults and younger children on a case-by-case basis. If a person
has special needs, such as cannot sit for 3 hours, has arthritis, or other medical
problems, we may be able to make accommodations for him/her. If a person has
a fear of the water, or cannot swim and is afraid of small boats, a skill-building
class may be able to resolve those issues. All clients under 18 years of age need
to be accompanied by a parent, guardian, or responsible adult.
Water sports are inherently dangerous, & each client or his/her parent or guardian
needs to sign a liability waiver. Download a copy of the liability waiver from the
Download section. Our guides are very experienced, but accidents occur.
On the Kayak Booklet page, download and read the Texas Kayaking Guides under the General Kayaking Guides that are linked to that page. You will learn about dressing for a successful trip and other helpful hints. While on the water, every person will wear a life preserver. We have a large assortment to choose from. While on the water, there will be no drinking of alcoholic beverages or use of illegal drugs. If you are taking medication which may impact your ability to function, discuss it with us before the trip and mention it to the head guide on the day of the trip.
We normally schedule one guide for every 6 clients. As conditions merit, additional guides join the trip.
